According to news released on Friday in the Daily Telegraph, businesses will be forced to publish their carbon footprint alongside financial data in their annual reports from next year.*

Companies will be required to account for their energy use, carbon emissions, and energy efficiency measures as the government continues to move towards a zero-carbon economy.

The new rules will take effect for the 2019-2020 financial year starting in April, and will affect large private companies as well as those quoted on the London Stock Exchange.

Amid an environment where businesses and industry are expected to reduce their carbon intensity by 20% by 2030, we can expect further legislation in this area as companies are expected to take more responsibility for their impact on the environment.

The easiest way to reduce CO2 output is to replace fossil fuels with renewable sources. TCP offers a range of hydrogen-fuel cell solutions, which use a chemical reaction to combine hydrogen and oxygen, producing clean energy with water as the only by-product.

In addition to producing zero carbon at source, they also eliminate other harmful pollutants such as nitrous oxides which cause serious respiratory illnesses. Coupled with near-silent operation, this makes them vital in meeting stricter regulations such as Section 61.

If you’re interested in getting ahead of new carbon legislation, or want to improve general air and noise quality on your site, contact TCP today on 01621 850777 or by emailing cleanair@tcp.eu.com.
